LUTON have upped their interest in Blackburn’s red-hot striker Sam Szmodics.
The Hatters are keen on the Championship’s top scorer, 28, whether they stay up or not — but so are Brentford.
Saturday’s dramatic home win over Bournemouth means Rob Edwards’ side are only in the relegation zone on goal difference.
However, the gap could return to three points if Nottingham Forest beat Tottenham on Sunday.
Szmodics has scored 23 league goals for Rovers this season with another six strikes in the FA Cup.
Despite not scoring in Saturday’s 0-0 draw against Southampton, he remains three goals clear of nearest challenger Adam Armstrong in the scoring charts.

His form earned him a maiden international call-up last month as he was handed his first two Republic of Ireland caps.
He qualified for the Boys in Green through his grandmother, having also been eligible for England and Hungary.
Szmodics has two years remaining on his Blackburn deal as well as the option of a further season after signing a new contract in September.
Rovers signed the forward from Peterborough back in the summer of 2022.
