FANS have hailed Kate Abdo as she brilliantly responded to Jamie Carragher’s awkward “loyalty” joke.
The CBS Sports duo were joined as usual by Thierry Henry and Micah Richards for their banter-filled Champions League coverage on Wednesday night.
On Tuesday, after Arsenal beat Porto on penalties, Carragher caused controversy as he seemingly took the joking too far by suggesting Abdo was not loyal to her heavyweight boxing coach partner Malik Scott.
Back on screens this evening, the presenter addressed the situation with an inventive opening to the show.
Abdo said: “After our road trip to the Emirates, we are back in our Champions League studio.
“This group, we have been together for three-and-a-half years, I grew up with a brother and I feel like I have gained three more here.

“Thierry Henry, of course, the golden child. He could do no wrong, always says the right thing, sets the example for the rest of us.
“Intimidating? Yes, he can be, but he is the big brother we all look up to.

“Then there is the middle child, Jamie Carragher, a chip on his shoulder, capable of saying anything for attention.
“Does he go too far sometimes? Absolutely. But does he apologise? Yes he does.

“But we all have that one annoying family member that we still love and accept.”
Carragher grimaced and awkwardly giggled as Abdo took aim at him, while Henry and Richards were left in hysterics.
On the ex-Manchester City star, Abdo said: “Then there’s little bro, Micah. Loud and loveable.
“Easy to pick on, impossible not to love and everybody’s favourite.
“And like a good family, we stick together. Another day, another show. Good to be with you all.”
Fans have hailed Abdo’s “masterclass” opening speech, with one adding: “Fairs she washed away that Jamie stinker.”
Another added: “Kate is magnificent. She has handled this so well.”
A third wrote: “Exactly how you address it, unreal.”
More reacted: “Kate is simply the best and this crew is magnificent.”
As the CBS Sports team presented from the Emirates Stadium yesterday, Carragher wore an Arsenal shirt.
The Liverpool legend stated that he wanted Abdo and Henry to wear the kit next after Richards had already pulled it on over his suit.
However, both were reluctant, with Abdo replying that she was “loyal”.
When asked to who, she said: “To Manchester United thank you very much.”
Carragher’s next sentence stunned his co-pundits as he replied: “Not to Malik.”
After a brief pause, Abdo responded: “What, why would you even say that?”
