Jose Mourinho next club odds: Newcastle frontrunners after Roma sacking as pressure mounts on Howe, Saudi move in mix

JOSE MOURINHO is back on the managerial market after parting ways with Roma today.

And the Special One is sure to have plenty of options on the table, with clubs and associations worldwide on alert.

Newcastle faves to snap up Mourinho after Roma sacking as Howe pressure mounts

The Italian side axed Mourinho – the sixth time he’s suffered this in his career – after a poor record in Serie A, where they currently sit ninth.

He’ll pick up another hefty pay-off, adding to the £50million+ from previous sackings as Chelsea, Manchester United and Tottenham.

Could one of those interested parties be Newcastle? The pressure from outwith the club has grown on manager Eddie Howe after a difficult couple of months in charge.

Newcastle were dumped out of Europe altogether at the start of December having finished bottom of their Champions League group and have won three times – including the Tyne-Wear derby cup win – and lost eight since the start of December.

Injuries have hampered the squad this season and their financial constraints have prevented Howe from doing the big business in January that the fans have craved.

But the majority of the support remain behind the manager as a result, with Mourinho as a replacement unlikely to please supporters greatly.

It’s a link that has been made for some time though and Newcastle sit as the 3/1 favourites with Sky Bet to be Mourinho’s next role.

It’s then 4/1 he head for the Saudi Pro League with any club there, with some managers including Steven Gerrard under pressure.

Taking over the Portugal national team is surely a job Mourinho has his eye on at some stage and they’re 5/1 – though it’s not likely they’ll move away from Roberto Martinez anytime soon.

A move to the MLS could attract the 60-year-old and that’s 6/1, ahead of former club Porto at 7/1 – the club where he enjoyed huge success.

A return to London on the cards? He’s 8/1 to replace Roy Hodgson at Crystal Palace, and it’s 12/1 he heads to either Benfica, Sporting or the England national side.
