Holland vs France preview
There’s plenty at stake as the Netherlands clash with France at the Red Bull Arena in Leipzig on Friday.
Ronald Koeman’s side clinched a hard-fought victory over Poland in their opening match of the competition, while the French got off to a winning start against a stubborn Austria.
It may only be their second matches of the tournament, but the result will be extremely important to their chances of Euro 2024 success.
Whoever wins will likely top Group D, while the runner-up will be thrust into what looks like the more testing side of the draw for the knockout stages.
The Dutch showed plenty of attacking fluidity and excitement with some excellent combination play between the likes of Memphis Depay, Cody Gakpo and Xavi Simons.

They produced a whopping 20 shots but just three of those were on target, and required some late magic from striker Wout Weghorst to get it over the line.
France were a little sluggish in front of goal themselves, and it took an own goal from Max Wober for Didier Deschamps’ team to clinch victory.
But perhaps the main takeaway from Monday’s game was Kylian Mbappe sustaining a broken nose.
The French Football Federation say a mask will be made for their captain, but it is not yet known if he will play against the Netherlands on Friday.

Holland vs France betting tips
Win
It looks extremely likely that France will be without talisman Kylian Mbappe for Friday’s showdown, but I still think they are capable of collecting three points against Holland.
The French squad is deep and full of attacking talent, and they do have options with Olivier Giroud, Randal Kolo Muani or Bradley Barcola all waiting in the wings.
France are no strangers to a sluggish start before, in fact it was a similar story when they won the World Cup in 2018. Manager Didier Deschamps is also more than capable of tweaking his system mid-tournament to good effect.
The French have won seven of their last eight matches against Holland in all competitions and look a generous price at 13/10 to add to that tally on Friday.

France goalscorer
Antoine Griezmann is available at 13/2 to open the scoring, but perhaps a safer bet would be for the Atletico Madrid forward to be France’s first goalscorer at 9/2.
If Kylian Mbappe is absent, then Griezmann should shoulder greater responsibility in attack whilst taking penalty duties for his nation.
Griezmann has been directly involved in more goals than any other European player at major tournaments – scoring 11 and registering seven assists in 26 games.
He also finished Monday’s win over Austria with a higher xG (0.84) than any of his colleagues, and has been the first goalscorer in THREE of their last SEVEN of France’s games against Holland.

Shots fired
Liverpool forward Cody Gakpo was Holland’s best player against Poland, and more is expected of him again against France on Friday.
The attacker, 25, scored the equaliser and had a total of five shots during the encounter.
It shouldn’t really have been a surprise given he finished the Premier League season with Liverpool’s fourth-highest number of shots on goal at an average of a shot every 26.4 minutes.
He certainly doesn’t lack for confidence and will be happy to test goalkeeper Mike Maignan from range.
