TEENAGER Mateo Apolonio became the youngest-ever player to make his debut in Argentina’s First Division this week.
Aged 14 years and 29 days, Apolonio broke the record previously set by Manchester City legend Sergio Aguero.
And he did so by over a year.
The 14-year-old was introduced in the 84th minute of Deportivo Riestra’s match against Newell’s Old Boys.
Riestra went on to lose 1-0 following Guillermo May’s decisive strike.
In a social media video before the match, Apolonio said: “I was in the living room of my house, my mother called me and my father was crying on the phone.

“And there he told me: ‘You were call to the first division squad.’
“It is a unique experience and no matter what happens, it will be a beautiful memory for me.”
Argentina legend Aguero made his Primera Division debut at the age of 15 years and 35 days.
His record had been held for over 20 years before it was broken by Apolonio on Thursday.

After making his senior debut, the striker spent another three years with Independiente before joining Atletico Madrid.
He went on to make 234 appearances for Atletico before swapping La Liga for the Premier League.
Aguero signed for Man City in 2011 and went on to spend 10 years at the Etihad Stadium.
He made 390 first team appearances during that time, scoring 260 goals.
The striker also won five Premier League titles with the Cityzens.
He then joined Barcelona, but was forced to retire after just a few months due to a cardiac arrhythmia.
