FOOTIE fans were less than impressed by Rio Ferdinand’s commentary during the Champions League final.
The Manchester United legend was part of TNT Sports’ punditry team for the culmination of Europe’s elite club competition last weekend.
Ferdinand – who won the competition in 2008 with the Red Devils – gave his thoughts as Real Madrid defeated Borussia Dortmund to with their 16th European Cup.
But some listeners were far from happy with what they heard, especially after he claimed Vinicius Jr had banked the Ballon d’Or after doubling Real’s lead.
As the Brazilian bared down on goal, he repeatedly shouted: “Ballon d’Or.”
And he went on to say it NINE TIMES before adding: “He’s looked dangerous in the second half.

“He’s looked dangerous. Then he scores and backs it up.
“The biggest moments of the Champions League this season, Vincius Jr has turned up.”
The clip of Ferdinand’s goal commentary went viral, although it wasn’t well received by fans, one of whom said: “Someone mute him.”
Another said: “The fakest, cringiest, worst pundit going. Horrific.”

And another said: “Terrible pundit, not articulate, doesn’t educate the audience, in fact he sounds like a YouTuber.”
One remarked: “A man who loves himself and his own voice.”
Another chimed in: “Mourinho must be second-hand embarrassed hearing that.”
Ferdinand reckons Vincius Jr’s Real team-mate Jude Bellingham is in contention to win this year’s Ballon d’Or thanks to a sensational debut season at the Bernabeu.
Although he reckons the Vini is just edging the rising England star in the race.
He said: “I think if you win the Champions League you put yourself in a great position. I think Vinicius is just shading it.
“I think his finish to the end of the season has been strongest.
“Goals in the big moments, but the Euro and Copa America is going to have a big part to play in the Ballon d’Or voting as well.”
