But he was forced off late on in the 3-1 Etihad win over Copenhagen with a gruesome finger that appeared broken or dislocated.

Nunes went down and was clearly in extreme pain as he yelped out.

And images showed just how bad it was with his middle finger on his left hand bent 90 degrees backwards at the knuckle.

TNT Sports commentator Darren Fletcher said: “His finger was bent grotesquely.”

Manchester City’s medical staff ran on to treat the £53million summer signing from Wolves, who also got injured earlier in the season following a spectacular overhead kick attempt.

They immediately got to work on the digit and strapped it up.

However, Nunes was unable to continue and was subbed off for youngster Micah Hamilton.

But squeamish fans flooded social media with messages after witnessing the nasty injury – including plenty wishing him a speedy recovery.
