But now he is suffering with a case of the Blues with Gareth Southgate apparently unwilling to look his way.

England were pushing for a goal against Denmark and lacking creativity.

Fans wanted to know why Palmer was not introduced in the 1-1 draw having also spent the whole game on the bench against Serbia.

One posted on X: “Southgate has forgotten Cole Palmer is on the bench.”

Another added: “Cole Palmer must have forgotten his football boots. That’s the only explanation I can think of as to why he is not on this football pitch.”

A third blasted: “This England team’s desperately missing Cole Palmer’s creativity. Having a player with the most goal contributions in the league on the bench is criminal.”

Palmer was named the Premier League’s Young Player of the Season in his first campaign since leaving Manchester City.

And Cesc Fabregas was not happy with his lack of involvement against Serbia.

“But instead if you put an offensive player, Palmer let’s say, up the pitch and controlling the ball in the final third, I think the players get so much more comfortable.”

Before the tournament, Jack Wilshere exclusively told SunSport that Palmer’s fearless attitude is the perfect blueprint for England to follow.

He said: “We’ve seen loads of technically gifted young players down the years but to have the guts to go and get on the ball is something else.

“I do see a bit of myself in Palmer. I was 22, like him, when I went to my first major  tournament, the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.”

Harry Kane opened the scoring for England but Denmark struck back through Morten Hjulmand and probably deserved all three points.
