FANS feared for England’s safety in the dire 1-1 draw with Denmark – after blasting the pitch as “not fit for a car boot sale”.
Three Lions’ right-back Kyle Walker was an early victim, twisting his ankle on the “embarrassing and dangerous” surface at the Frankfurt Arena.
The Manchester City star eventually continued after changing his boots.
But viewers slammed the “shambolic” pitch for cutting up in England’s second Euro 2024 group game.
One fan posted: “When Kyle Walker went over on his ankle it looked nasty. Has to be a concern and puts doubt in the players’ minds.”
Another wrote: “The pitch in Frankfurt isn’t fit for a car boot sale let alone a European Championship game. Embarrassing and dangerous.”

And a third worried observer commented: “If someone gets seriously injured from a slip here…”
Talking of slips… Harry Kane’s early rebound opener for England was cancelled out following defending even dodgier than the pitch.
The Three Lions gave the ball away from their own 34th-minute throw-in.
And Morten Hjulmand belted the ball past keeper Jordan Pickford.

And although fans didn’t appear to blame the surface for the Three Lions’ plight, they did reckon it was a major problem.

Clearly a Newcastle supporter, they then added: “I almost don’t want (Anthony) Gordon’s ankles on this shambolic Frankfurt pitch.”
England legend Alan Shearer also suggested the pitch was behind the early injury scare for Three Lions’ boss Gareth Southgate.
The BBC pundit said: “I just wonder whether it was one of those occasions when Kyle Walker burst forward earlier that he hurt himself.
“The turf did look like it gave way a little bit. It is cutting up all over. Different studs might be in order.”
