ENGLAND fans branded a corner routine “criminal” as it somehow ended up as a back pass to Jordan Pickford.
Gareth Southgate‘s Three Lions have come under criticism for going long too often from keeper Jordan Pickford.
And their first-half corner routine showed no signs of anything changing.
Kieran Tripper went short to Bukayo Saka, who fed it to Kobbie Mainoo, it then went to Phil Foden and back to Kyle Walker.
Somehow, without any real press from Switzerland, England and Walker were forced to go all the way back to Pickford.
A chorus of boos rang around the Dusseldorf Arena – and the reaction online was not much better.

One said: “Turning a corner kick into a backpass to Pickford, lol.”
Another added: “The short corner routine that ends up with your keeper is underrated.”
One moaned: “An England corner ending up with Jordan Pickford after 20 seconds. Amazing.”
Another slammed: “Having a corner and the ball ends up going back to your keeper 10 seconds later that’s criminal.”

Things soon went from bad to worse for England after Breel Embolo broke the dead lock with 15 minutes to go.
It took a moment of magic from Saka to level the game and send it to extra-time.
Thankfully for England they eventually came through the tie on penalties.
Pickford made a save before Trent Alexander-Arnold scored the winning spot-kick with England looking ice-cool in the shootout.
