LIFTING the Champions League trophy is one thing – but the prize money that comes with it makes winning the title much sweeter.
Rodri’s 68th minute low-driven strike fired Manchester City to their first Champions League triumph in a gruelling 2023 final.
And as a result, Pep Guardiola’s side took home £17.1 million just from winning the final alone but £85m as a whole including group stages and television rights.
But City won’t be retaining their title this season as they were knocked out by Real Madrid on penalties in a thrilling semi-final.
This means the prize money will be going to Real Madrid or Borussia Dortmund who go head-to-head in the Wembley showpiece.

This year’s Champions League prize pot has a total purse of approximately £2.19 billion.
But the winning club will earn around £17m just for the final – the same as last year.
