BRIGHTON thew away a two-goal lead in the dying seconds as Wolves salvaged an unlikely point to draw 2-2 on the South Coast.
The Seagulls took the lead on the stroke of half time as Georginio Rutter slipped a pass into Danny Welbeck who superbly swept the ball into the bottom corner.
The former England striker, 33, had passed a late fitness test to play in the match but showed no sign of rustiness as he helped himself to his sixth goal of the campaign.
Evan Ferguson doubled the hosts lead with five minutes remaining, rifling a superb finish beyond Jose Sa to seal the victory.
It is Ferguson’s first Premier League goal since November last year.
Rayan Ait-Nouri pulled one back for Wolves to moments later with what looked to be a consolation.
