A BRAZILIAN football team celebrated cup success by pretending to be DEAD in front of their delighted fans.

Cariri hit the headlines on Sunday for their bizarre antics after winning their two-legged semi-finals of Cearense Serie B Championship.

They defeated Icasa 2-1 a fortnight ago on home turf to take an advantage into the second leg.

And their defence produced a fine performance to hold firm and secure a goalless draw away to their rivals at the weekends to seal the aggregate win against the odds.

That result meant Cariri reached the final and also guaranteed their spot in next season’s Cearense Serie A in Brazil.

That is due to the two finalists automatically going up regardless of which team lifts the title.

Naturally, the victory sparked wild celebrations for the away side and their supporters at the Arena Romeirao, in Juazeiro do Norte.

However, the jubilant players soon took a unique turn.

Their owner also runs a funeral home.

And they decided to pay tribute to him by pretending to be dead on the pitch.

However, they will know by hoping that their fairytale campaign does not die on its backside.

They are set to battle Tirol in the final on Saturday.
