BBC One somehow MISS Chelsea’s horror own goal and then nearly miss another seconds later as fans blast ‘howler’

FURIOUS football fans have blasted the BBC after they somehow MISSED Leicester City’s first goal vs Chelsea.

Chelsea were taking on the Foxes in the FA Cup for a place in the Wembley semi-finals when the howler occurred.

Goals from Marc Cucurella and Cole Palmer had given Mauricio Pochettino’s side a 2-0 half-time lead.

Six minutes after the restart Blues defender Axel Disasi had a nightmare as he tried to pass the ball back to goalkeeper Robert Sanchez.

Under pressure from a Leicester star his pass back was lifted far too high in the air for Sanchez to collect and arced into the Chelsea net for a stunning own goal.

However, viewers at home only caught a glimpse of the goal as the ball nestled into the net.

That was because the BBC were instead showing replays of a recent Chelsea attack instead.

The Beeb were almost at it again minutes later.

As they showed replays of the Disasi own goal, Chelsea went up the other end and very nearly scored themselves.

The BBC got their camera back on the game just in time for Nicolas Jackson’s shot to flash harmlessly wide of the post.

Taking to social media, one viewer said: “Miss a goal and then almost miss another goal because of obsession with multiple replays.”

A second said: “Who is in charge of this Chelsea broadcast at BBC?! Just missed the goal cos they were playing a replay.”

Could Jose Mourinho return to Chelsea?

A third said: “BBC has just managed to miss a goal by showing a replay. That is just embarrassing production work.”

Another wrote: “One of the great own goals and the BBC missed it.”

A fifth added: “BBC Sport making an absolute howler missing the Live Leicester goal too busy zooming in and waffling on about players and managers.”

Disasi’s unfortunate own goal also saw him get both barrels from the travelling support, with chants of “shoot” being heard from Leicester fans everytime he touched the ball thereafter.

Stephy Mavididi then scored a belter by cutting inside past Malo Gusto and bending a shot into the far post beyond Sanchez at full stretch to level the scoring.

But a Callum Doyle sending off undid Leicester’s good work.

Down to 10-men, Leicester couldn’t stop Chelsea’s waves of attack with Carney Chukwuemeka and Noni Madueke both netting in injury time at the hosts won 4-2.

Moments after Disasi’s own goal an idiot pitch invader caused play to be temporarily halted.
