PETER CROUCH hilariously claimed wife Abbey Clancy “would have given me a slap” had he proposed like a man did at Brighton’s clash with Wolves on Monday night.
Before the match, TNT Sports showed a clip of a man getting down on one knee and proposing to a woman believed to be part of Brighton’s press room security.
And presenter Lynsey Hipgrave said: “Such a family feel here and there was a special moment earlier when we got to the ground here at the Amex.”
The couple hugged after the woman presumably said yes, with those around the pair applauding the emotional moment.
Ex-Reading midfielder Steve Sidwell, part of the punditry team alongside Crouch, added: “She looks quite surprised there.”
And Crouch, 42, replied: “She does, yeah, she’s thinking ‘In the tunnel, really? Here?”‘.

Hipgrave then responded: “I’m presuming that’s where they met as they work together.”
Before Sidwell asked Crouch: “How would that have gone down with Abbey [Clancy]?’
And the former England striker brilliantly said: “She’s not as into football as I’m sure this lady is. She would have given me a slap.”
Hipgrave rounded off the segment by saying: “From Seagulls to love birds.”

And Crouch added: “Beautiful moment.”
Ex-Tottenham and Liverpool man Crouch, has been married to model Clancy, 38, since 2011.
And while the couple may not have been overly impressed by the proposal, it was probably the most memorable part of Crouch’s evening as Brighton played out a goalless draw with Wolves.
The point takes Roberto De Zerbi’s side above Manchester United into seventh place, while Wolves remain 11th having picked up 10 points from their last four Premier League games.
