ARSENAL fans have slammed Chris Wood after he spurned a number of chances against Manchester City.

City then visited relegation-threatened Nottingham Forest looking to close the gap, which they managed thanks to goals from Josko Gvardiol and substitute Erling Haaland.

But the Citizens should have fallen one goal behind and would have done if Wood had his shooting boots on.

The striker produced a shocking miss in the first half when Neco Williams cut back a cross for Wood to tap into a basically empty net, but the ball got caught between his feet and City were able to clear.

Wood was presented with a similar opportunity shortly after the break and although he made better contact with the ball, Gvardiol was able to clear.

One took aim at Wood saying: “Chris Wood out here missing open goals to make sure City win the league while Walcott crashed ours last season.”

Another added: “Chris Wood needs to be tried at the Hague after that performance.”

A third wrote: “Chris Wood has blood on his hands.”
