ALAN SHEARER had a hilarious response to what he thought was a dig aimed at him by Gary Lineker on the latest episode of their podcast.
With usual co-host Micah Richards missing from this week’s Rest Is Football show, the two former England strikers discussed the art of goalscoring.
The pair have hit the headlines for not holding back their thoughts on the podcast, with the BBC host calling the Three Lions’ Euros performance against Denmark “s***”.
But there was to be no colourful language on today’s show as Lineker said from the off: “We thought we would do a special episode today as it’s just the two of us on the art of being a goalscorer or striker.
“We will refrain from using too much bad language today as this might be useful for some youngsters – and your parents want you to listen.”
Shearer, who does often swear on the podcast, jumped in while laughing and said: “Is that a little dig at me is that?”

Lineker replied: “I think we are both guilty on occasions. We do both quite like swearing from time to time.”
Both Lineker and Shearer were on the first Match of the Day of the season on Saturday – but Richards was once again absent.
The ex-Manchester City star revealed on the podcast last week he pulled out of MOTD due to a schedule clash with Sky Sports’ Super Sunday.
Shearer quizzed him on how there was not time to work on both days as Richards admitted: “I can’t work Saturday and Sunday, I’ll be knackered.”

The Newcastle legend hit back: “What am I listening to here? Let’s just revisit ‘I can’t do Saturday and Sunday’. Did you just say that?
“I was told you were on with us. Give your f***ing head a wobble, will you?”
Lineker then hilariously quipped: “No wonder his career petered out.”
