Meanwhile, Friday night’s blockbuster will be Ngannou’s second professional outing in the ring.

The Cameroonian powerhouse made his boxing debut against the unbeaten Tyson Fury back in October.

Ngannou lost to the Gypsy King despite knocking down the 35-year-old in the third round.

Why is Joshua vs Ngannou taking place on a Friday night?

Anthony Joshua’s meeting with Francis Ngannou will take place on Friday, March 8.

The ring-walks for the bout are expected to take place at 11.20pm UK time, with the fight set to start at approximately 11.35pm.

Joshua vs Ngannou is taking place on the Friday as opposed to the more conventional Saturday due to the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix on March 9.

Putting the events on separate days allows organisers and broadcasters to get the best out of both huge sporting events.

Joshua vs Ngannou will be shown live on DAZN PPV and Sky Sports Box Office.
