Hughie’s last bout before his comeback fight against Dovbyshchenko was against Christian Hammer back in 2021.

The Manchester-born boxer was sidelined with long Covid and other health issues before he made his highly anticipated return in April this year.

Now Hughie is well back on his way to fitness with his next clash on Friday night.

“The most important thing for me now is getting the ring rust off and getting under the lights and doing what I do best.

“I thought I wasn’t going to box again. From a young kid, I’ve put everything in, nothing else, just boxing.

“I thought that was it. My dreams, of putting in all the hard work and dedication and my life was down the drain.

“I can finally see the light and get into the mix.”
