‘I’m out of it’ – Gervonta Davis stuns boxing world by announcing plans to retire at just 30

GERVONTA DAVIS has stunned the world of boxing after announcing plans to retire before 2026.

Davis, 30, has a flawless 30-0 record with 28 KOs and is the current holder of the WBA lightweight title after his huge win over Ryan Garcia last year.

Tank is due to fight Lamont Roach on March 1 following a delay from its original date this month.

Should he win that fight a whole host of new options for future opponents could emerge, including a rematch with Garcia.

However, during the Tuesday launch press conference in Brooklyn, NY, USA, the American hinted that he would hang up his gloves before 2026 in a stunning revelation.

Davis, who has become a real pay-per-view draw during his career, said: “After next year, I’m out of it.”

“I’m fed up with it. I don’t care about belts. I don’t care about none of that.

“I’ll probably be building my real estate portfolio, just trying to separate myself from the limelight.

“I just wanna be able to make money and stay out the way, that’s it. I want to be living without being seen.”

Saudi boxing chief Turki Alalshikh wants to make a mega offer for Davis to fight Shakur Stevenson later in the year.

And a lucrative deal to continue fighting could convince him to make a U-turn and carry on into 2026.
