CANELO ALVAREZ retained his titles against fellow Mexican Jaime Munguia in a huge world super-middleweight title clash.
Alvarez put all four of his belts at 168lbs on the line tonight against 43-0 Munguia, who has beaten Brits Liam Smith and John Ryder before.
Canelo caught Munguia with a superb uppercut to send him to the canvas for the first time in his career before going on to win by a unanimous decision.

Though Canelo went on to win by a unanimous points decision, it was not all one-way traffic.

Canelo said he could have STOPPED Jaime Munguia in their fight last night.
He had Munguia down in the fourth round, but went on to win by a unanimous decision.

“But I like to take my time and make sure I make no mistakes.”

Asked if Canelo was invincible, Munguia said: “No, Canelo is not invincible he has had the two losses.
“But he is a very good fighter.”

Munguia said: “I was never hurt, but he has so much experience.
“That was a learning experience.”

It was a stunning uppercut from Canelo in the fourth round which did the damage.

Munguia made the count but that knockdown sent Canelo on his way to the points victory.
Munguia lacking power to hurt fellow Mexican
Against any other fighter, Jaime Munguia would have caused some serious damage with his punches this evening.
However, Canelo is a completely different beast and he just absorbed them and then hurt him with his own replies.
It was probably the best fight of Munguia’s career but he just didn’t have the power to hurt Canelo Alvarez.

Jaime Munguia threw all that he had at the defending champion this evening in Las Vegas.
Canelo Alvarez sent him crashing to the canvas with an uppercut and constantly rocked the challenger with the power of his punches.
He boxed with experience and just looked to pick off Munguia whenever he came on the offensive.
There is no doubting who is the top dog in this weight division still.

Munguia starts landing some good combinations.
He is managing to get out of the way of the Canelo counter attacks at the same time.

Canelo lands some good right hands in that round that seem to stun Munguia.
He lands some punches himself but they do not seem to be hurting the defending champion.
With two rounds left now, Munguia will get more desperate, needing to attack to try and go for the win.

Canelo is working the liver area of the body of Munguia with body shots and when he connects his opponent drops his right hand.
That is a sure sign that he is hurting him.
Munguia lands some good combinations but catches Canelo with a low blow.
Canelo seems to have just more power in his punches.

Munguia keeps on trying be more attacking and landing punches on Canelo but he just sucks them up.
The punches of Canelo are marking the face of Munguia.
Canelo will want to pick up the pace now and send his opponent crashing to the canvas.

Canelo is waiting until Munguia goes on the offensive and is picking him off with big hits to the body.
You can see that they are hurting Munguia.
The longer this fight goes on, it seems Munguia’s attacking style is playing into the hands of the tactics of Canelo.

He hits Munguia with a heavy body shot and his legs almost buckle.
