A reliable performer during his pomp, he has now taken to playing padel in his spare time.
Padel, most popular in mainland Europe, is a racquet sport that combines elements of tennis and squash into one game.
At 46, this star looks well capable of still getting around the court – appearing trim, but now sporting short, grey hair.
He recently got kitted out to play with his old football pals.
Team-mates from his Italian national team days Christian Vieri and Luigi Di Biaglio got involved.

While Vieri’s fellow former Azzurri striker Luca Toni also gave it a go.
In addition to AC Milan, our star also played for the likes of Barcelona and Juventus.
While he started out at hometown club Como.
He won 98 caps for his country, and started six out of seven matches, including the final, at the 2006 World Cup.

Since retiring from playing the game in 2014, the former full-back has worked in coaching.
He managed Swiss side FC Chiasso, first as player-boss, between 2013 and 2015.
While he also took charge of Indian side Delhi Dynamos in 2016.
His most recent full-time coaching gig was as assistant to Fabio Capello at Jiangu Suning in China during the 2017 and 2018 seasons.
More recently, Zambrotta can sometimes be seen assisting in various Uefa draws, when he’s not playing padel with his pals.
