Where will Barcelona play while Nou Camp is being renovated?

BARCELONA will be eager to retain their La Liga crown in the 2023/24 season – but they’ll have to do it without playing a single minute at the Nou Camp.

The Spanish giants’ home fortress of 65 years has been going through a huge renovation process since the World Cup.

However, with the work on the 99,000-seater stadium set to ramp up, Barcelona will have to temporarily migrate somewhere else.

And SunSport has information on exactly where the Catalan giants are being forced to play a majority of their football next season.

Where will Barcelona play while Nou Camp is being renovated?

Barcelona have confirmed that they will play their home games at the Estadi Lluis Companys Stadium for the 2023/24 campaign.

Situated in Montjuic, the iconic stadium is on a large hill to the southwest of Barcelona.

It is currently the home of the Catalonia National football team in Spain.

And the 55,000-seater arena is famously known for hosting the 1992 Summer Olympic Games.

When will Barcelona return to the Nou Camp?

The La Liga champions are expected to return back to their ‘avant-garde of technology’ stadium by November 2024.

Redevelopment plans include a retractable roof with 30,000 square metres of solar panels.

Energy generated from the panels will be used to power a new 360-degree LED display which will span across the whole stadium.

And new office spaces are said to also be incorporated in the plans while the area outside of the ground will feature a smaller stadium for the club’s basketball team, an ice rink, green space and a hotel.

It has been reported that the transformation will cost approximately £1.3billion which will also see the venue expand to a 105,000-seater stadium.
