Watch moment England legend Jill Scott awkwardly silences Daniel Sturridge for not winning Premier League

ENGLAND legend Jill Scott savaged former Liverpool striker Daniel Sturridge for never winning the Premier League.

Sturridge, 34, was a part of Brendan Rodgers’ team that missed out on the title by two points at the end of the 2013/14 season – in which he scored 24 goals in 33 matches in all competitions.

A 3-2 win over rivals Manchester City put the Reds in the driving seat with just four games remaining.

But a Steven Gerrard slip proved costly as the lost 2-0 to Chelsea at Anfield, before they spurned a three-goal lead to draw 3-3 with Crystal Palace which all but ended their hopes of a first league crown in 24 years.

Appearing on A League of Their Own, presenter Romesh Ranganathan asked the now retired Sturridge what it was like to play in that Liverpool team.

To which he replied: “I still think about it today to be honest because you always think you get so close to that success.

“Sometimes I’m driving in my car and I hear a tune that was playing that year in the dressing room, I’m vibing, and then I think ‘Damn, we didn’t get it done’.

“But, you know, fortunately for the club, they won the Premier League [in 2020] and it was a great moment for them.”

Manchester City and Lionesses icon Scott, 36, who is a team captain on the show, then proceeded to cut Sturridge down with a ruthless response.

She said: “Maybe if you hadn’t been vibing, you’d have got it done.”

A stunned Sturridge simply replied: “Wow,” before he silently in disbelief.

Fellow team captain Jamie Redknapp eventually added: “Jill is the silent assassin. Sits there and just picks people off.”

Ex-Man City man Micah Richards then mimicked Scott taking aim at Sturridge with a sniper.

And the crowd in attendance found the segment hilarious as the former Liverpool striker was left humbled.

Sturridge did win the Premier League title with Chelsea in 2010, but only started two league games during that campaign.

He also won two FA Cups and the Champions League during his four years at Stamford Bridge.

After joining Liverpool in 2013, he spent seven years on Merseyside, scoring 67 goals in 160 games.

His only major trophy with the club came in his final season when they won the Champions League, although he played just eight minutes in the competition after the group stage.

Meanwhile, Scott won the Women’s Super League with Man City in 2016.

She also claimed four FA Cups and three League Cups during her time with Everton and Man City.

With England, she lifted the Euros in the final match of her 18-year professional career.
