Watch Man Utd star Weghorst ‘hit supporter’ with wayward shot in warm-up as fans say ‘Jonny Wilkinson would be proud’

MANCHESTER UNITED star Wout Weghorst hit a new low – after hitting a supporter with a wayward shot during the warm-up against West Ham.

The Dutchman started in the 1-0 defeat at London Stadium then failed to score in his 12th consecutive game.

And his ability to hit the back of the net is no better in training.

Weghorst was involved in a shooting drill in the build-up to Sunday’s match and fired one shot well over the bar.

The ball flew into the crowd where the travelling United fans were seated and it bounced off a woman.

Luckily, the fan was unhurt and many laughed as music began to play as soon as the shot hit her.

Supporters took to social media and said: “That is actually terrible.”

Another reacted: “He is rubbish.”

A third added it was like a rugby conversion: “Jonny Wilkinson would’ve been proud of that one.”

Weghorst has netted just two goals in 27 games since arriving on loan in January from Burnley.

Both strikes came outside of the Premier League, in the Carabao Cup versus Nottingham Forest and Europa League against Real Betis.

Despite his form, manager Erik ten Hag reportedly wants to keep the 30-year-old at the club.

Weghorst has supposedly held talks with United chiefs over extending his stay.

This has annoyed supporters with some demanding that he leaves.

No matter what happens with his future, United will be in the market for a new striker this summer with Harry Kane, Victor Osimhen and Randal Kolo Muani linked.
