AUSTRALIAN footballer Jackson Irvine was left stunned when he was recognised by Manchester United and Brazil star Casemiro.
The pair bumped into each other backstage at the Fifa football awards.
And while Irvine failed to take home any gongs, he might well have been the night’s biggest winner.
The 30-year-old, who appeared in all four of Australia’s World Cup games last year, arrived suited and booted at the ceremony as a member of FIFPRO’s Global Player Council.
Manchester United star Casemiro was there after being nominated for the World 11, an award voted by other players on football’s best performers.
Irvine and Casemiro can be seen posing for a photo together.

The 31-year-old said: “You play for Australia, no?”
A stunned Irvine replied: “Australia, yeah mate. Wow!”
Before leaving the room, Casemiro nods and says: “I see you. I see you.”

One of the Irvine’s friends then jokes that he has turned red in the face, to which he replies: “Mate, I’m sweating.”
Casemiro is among European football’s most recognisable characters after building a name for himself after nearly a decade at Real Madrid.
The Brazilian won five Champions League medals at the Bernabeu and will be hoping to replicate some of that success at Old Trafford.
The club had looked like they were back on the road to the top before Sunday’s shocking 7-0 defeat left fans baffled.
