MARCUS RASHFORD has revealed how Louis van Gaal’s “non-negotiable” demands saw him fined every Thursday.
The forward made his breakthrough under Van Gaal in 2016, making an instant impact by scoring two goals on his Europa League and Premier League debuts days just apart.
However, Rashford’s dramatic burst onto the scene did not make him exempt from the Dutchman’s demands.
And the 25-year-old has now revealed how a “non-negotiable” demand meant Rashford was fined for being late every Thursday.
Speaking to Sky Sports ahead of the Carabao Cup final, he explained: “I always remember Thursdays.
“I used to get fined every Thursday, [but] it was completely out of my control but this is the type of person that Van Gaal was.

“He used to tell me I have to finish my college work, it’s non-negotiable, but I also can’t be late for training, it’s non-negotiable.
“I had 12 minutes to get here (to training) from college.”
Van Gaal, now 71, left United at the end of that season after winning the FA Cup.
Rashford has held a deep respect for his former manager, posting a touching tribute to him after Van Gaal announced he had prostate cancer.

Taking to Twitter at the time, Rashford said: “Earned my debut from LVG. Will forever be indebted. You can fight this. We are all behind you ♥️.”
On his development under Van Gaal, Rashford also said: “The time with Louis was very good for me. He and Ryan Giggs helped me a lot.
“Because that transition from the reserves to the first team can be hard — I hadn’t played much reserve football.
“I was on the bench for the first team before I had even started for the reserves.
“Van Gaal was top. At the time I was getting a lot of praise and attention from everywhere outside but the biggest thing for me were his words.
“That was what was making me smile every day. To be part of Man United’s first team.
“There were some games when it was difficult.
“I remember a game — Tottenham away — when he took me off at half-time. The next day we spoke honestly — I was still smiling.”
