Tottenham reject approach from Swansea for Ange Postecoglou’s assistant manager Chris Davies

TOTTENHAM have rejected an approach from Swansea for assistant manager Chris Davies.

Swans are looking for a new boss after sacking Michael Duff earlier this week.

Former Welsh youth player Davies is among their top targets to succeed Duff.

But they have been rebuffed in their goal to take Ange Postecoglou’s No2 by Spurs.

Davies, 38, was assistant to Brendan Rodgers at Swansea before joining the Northern Irishman at Liverpool, Celtic and Leicester.

In June, he was appointed senior assistant coach to Postecoglou at Spurs.

His influence at the North London side has been clear from the way he regularly instructs the players from the technical area during games.

The players are also understood to love his training sessions with Davies receiving a lot of praise so far this season.

That means Tottenham will likely tell Swansea to look elsewhere in what would be another blow for the Welsh club.

Ex-Birmingham boss John Eustace and former Luton and Southampton chief Nathan Jones have already been ruled out of the running for the vacant post.

Alan Sheehan remains Swansea’s caretaker boss and is expected to be in charge for Saturday’s Championship game at Rotherham alongside coach Kristian O’Leary and goalkeeping coach Martyn Margetson.

Former Luton defender Sheehan moved to the Liberty in the summer after Russell Martin and his backroom staff departed for Southampton.
