Tottenham manager Antonio Conte rushed to hospital for surgery after suffering severe abdominal pain


ANTONIO CONTE has been rushed to hospital to undergo gallbladder surgery after suffering from severe abdominal pain.

Tottenham have confirmed their manager has been diagnosed with cholecystitis, which is inflammation of the gallbladder.

And he will now go under the knife to have his gallbladder removed.

A Spurs statement confirmed: “Antonio Conte recently became unwell with severe abdominal pain.

“Following a diagnosis of cholecystitis, he will be undergoing surgery to remove his gallbladder today and will return following a period of recuperation.

“Everyone at the Club wishes him well.”

It is unclear how long Conte will be out for.

But he could now miss Tottenham’s crunch home clash against Manchester City on Sunday, with assistant Cristian Stellini likely to take charge.

The Londoners are currently fifth in the Premier League table.

And they are three points off Man United and Newcastle, who each have a game in hand.

But Spurs go into the second half of the season with two new additions.

Arnaut Danjuma was loaned from Villarreal despite being on the verge of joining Everton.

And he’s already made an impact by scoring on his debut against Preston in the FA Cup.

Meanwhile, Tottenham left it late to loan top target Pedro Porro from Sporting Lisbon.

The wing-back will join on a permanent deal in the summer for £35million.

And his arrival saw Matt Doherty’s contract terminated before the Irishman joined Atletico Madrid for free.
