Todd Boehly ‘ALREADY lines up Chelsea star for transfer to Strasbourg just hours after buying Ligue 1 club’

TODD BOEHLY has wasted no time in ringing the changes as new owner of Ligue 1 club Strasbourg.

His takeover of the French club was confirmed yesterday, with Boehly acquiring near to 100 per cent of the French club for £65million.

The takeover was opposed by Strasbourg fans, with ultras gathering outside the stadium with banners saying “Boehly not welcome!”.

But according to reports, Chelsea will already begin shifting players between Strasbourg and themselves as part of Chelsea’s new multi-club model.

The club have sought to emulate Manchester City’s City Football Group model which has a portfolio of 13 clubs.

According to Fabrizio Romano, the first player that Chelsea will send Strasbourg’s way is David Datro Fofana.

Fofana was signed in January from Norwegian side Molde FK for £11million after contributing 15 goals and five assists in 24 Eliteserien matches.

The forward made three appearances in the Premier League for Chelsea as well as playing 44 minutes in the FA Cup.

Chelsea were actively looking to loan Fofana already this summer and Boehly’s takeover of Strasbourg offers a convenient landing spot for the striker.

Chelsea are in the process of trimming a bloated squad as they prepare for new head coach Mauricio Pochettino’s arrival.

Boehly has been in intense negotiations with Saudi Arabian representatives amid a slew of Chelsea players joining the Saudi League.

Kalidou Koulibaly has joined Al-Hilal with N’golo Kante linking up with Karim Benzema at Al-Ittihad.

Edouard Mendy will join Al-Ahli and Hakim Ziyech is nearing a transfer to Ronaldo’s Al-Nassr.

Chelsea are also hoping to convince unwanted strikers’ Romelu Lukaku and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to join Saudi clubs although it is understood that both strongly favour a move to Europe.
