Roy Keane puts neck on the line with Premier League title prediction despite saying ‘I’ll never make that mistake again’

ROY KEANE has put his neck on the line with a new Premier League title prediction and says Arsenal could win it.

Despite saying he will “never make the mistake” of writing off Manchester City, the Ireland legend is doubtful over whether they can maintain their dominance.

After a thrilling 3-3 draw against Spurs on Sunday, Pep Guardiola’s side are currently third in the league table, trailing three points behind Arsenal and one point below Liverpool.

Keane, 52, is concerned City do not have the “hunger” to be frontrunners but will not bet against a side who have won the last three titles.

He said on Sky Sports: “I certainly wouldn’t bet against Man City, but I am starting to become doubtful about City winning that title.

“There’s a reason it hasn’t been won four years in a row because keeping those levels up, that hunger, desire, you get a few injuries, some of the top boys coming off it.

“But certainly Arsenal and Liverpool I’m looking at, especially Arsenal with the strength and depth they’ve got and the experience of last year.”

However, the Manchester United legend pledged to never write off last year’s Treble winners and admitted that was his biggest “mistake” a few years ago.

Keane has appeared to backtrack slightly after previously saying who his title winners would be this term, insisting: “I wouldn’t change my mind in terms of who I think will win the league – it’ll be Man City.”

Guardiola’s squad have drawn their last three league games against Spurs, Liverpool and Chelsea.

Meanwhile, Arsenal started the season with a bang, beating City in the Community Shield.

They have maintained their superb form ever since, and sit two points above second-place Liverpool and three ahead of City, who are third.

And pal Jamie Carragher also shared his support for the Gunners and his old side Liverpool to continue their fight against City.

He said:  “If you asked us all, I think we’d still fancy Manchester City for the title.

“We’ve seen this before with City, where they go on a run during the second half of the season and win 10 or 12 games on the bounce and go away from other teams.

“Maybe, this season, Arsenal will be stronger from their experience in those moments and we know Liverpool have been there before.”

Man City will next take on fourth-place Aston Villa on Wednesday night as they battle it out for the top spot.
