PAUL SCHOLES sparked a fierce debate among Manchester United fans as he compared Casemiro to a club legend.
The Brazilian has helped rejuvenate United’s midfield since his £70million move from Real Madrid.
And Scholes likened him to former team-mate and captain Roy Keane before their Europa League trip to Barcelona.
He said on BT Sport: “People say he’s a defensive midfielder, but I don’t see that. He’s as close to Roy Keane as I’ve seen.”
But fans weren’t convinced, with many suggesting Keane is nowhere near the class of five-time Champions League winner Casemiro.
One said: “Casemiro is better than Roy Keane ever was.”

Another said: “Seriously though Roy Keane is absolutely nowhere near Casemiro as a player.”
One added: “Roy Keane doesn’t come close to Casemiro and Casemiro is a defensive midfielder.”
Another added: “I think he’s more skilled on the ball than Roy was.”
But one argued: “Been saying this, closest thing we’ve had to Keane. Keane gets labelled as an aggressive hard player, but he was so much more.

“On the ball always made the right choice, fizzes passes to beat the press, knew when to commit forward and drop back. Had it all.”
Another said: “People don’t realise how technically gifted Keane was as well, very similar to Casemiro.”
One added: “Serious praise that.”
