OLE GUNNAR SOLSKJAER has singled out Harry Maguire and Scott McTominay as two unsung Manchester United heroes.
The former Red Devils boss has been impressed with how Maguire has overcome fierce criticism to return to form.
The centre-back was heavily linked with a transfer exit in the summer after losing his place in the side.
But Maguire has performed well in Lisandro Martinez’s absence and Solskjaer was full of praise for the former captain, with the Norwegian revealing they still keep in touch.
He told Nettavisen: “I think he has dealt with it in a fantastic way. It has not been easy. I have kept in touch with him and I have nothing but praise for the guy.
“He has been in it. It’s not easy to leave Manchester United because you know there’s a downturn almost everywhere you go. You get paid for your efforts when you are that type, when you are a good footballer and show that you have a heart for the club.”

Solskjaer made Maguire United captain and although he has since been stripped of that honour, the former United manager believes he is the type of player Erik ten Hag will want in his squad.
Scott McTominay is another player Solskjaer pointed to as being a strong team player.
He added: “I knew they had it in them, and I think it’s these types of people who get paid for their efforts and get paid back for what kind of people they are.
“They are the kind of people you want in a team.”
