Newcastle’s Saudi owners in talks to buy SECOND club after attending recent match


NEWCASTLE’S owners are reportedly in talks to buy Belgian outfit KV Oostende.

The Public Investment Fund (PIF) owns 80 per cent of the Magpies and has been interested in finding a partner club.

Oostende has recently been relegated to the second division of Belgian football following a poor season that has seen them only pick up six wins in 33 matches.

The club is currently owned by US-based investment vehicle Pacific Media Group (PMG).

The group has stakes in eight other teams in Europe, including Barnsley, German side Kaiserslautern, and French side Nancy.

However, according to The Athletic, PIF is in talks over a purchase of Oostende.

The report suggests that the group’s representatives were even in attendance for the club’s 4-0 defeat to Leuven on Saturday.

The club is believed to be available for £10million.

Oostende had been in the Juliper League for the past decade but are now in need of investment following the relegation.

However, the owners of Wolves are also said to have been in contact with PMG as well as one other English team.

PIF have also been said to have watched French sides Standard Liege and Charleroi on Friday.
