Newcastle ‘ready to sell Saint-Maximin for right price with club backing Anthony Gordon after £45m transfer’

NEWCASTLE are ready to cash in on Allan Saint-Maximin to raise funds for summer signings, according to reports.

The 26-year-old star is under contract until the summer of 2026 and the Magpies believe he could command a decent fee.

Saint-Maximin is currently on a £93,000-a-week contract.

According to talkSPORT, the signing of Anthony Gordon is believed to have left the mercurial Frenchman questioning his role.

The talented winger has struggled for a regular run of games in Eddie Howe’s side this season.

Newcastle want to add to their squad but only plan to spend between £20million and £25m, plus the revenue they raise from sales, in order to keep on the right side of FFP rules.

That budget could change if they clinch fourth and qualify for the Champions League.

Journalist Dean Jones has seconded these claims.

Jones reported: “Saint Maximin could well leave” in the upcoming summer transfer window.

He added: “The player’s contract regarding wages and appearances makes him more vulnerable to a sale”.

This could come as a shock to Newcastle fans, as the Frenchman is a firm favourite with the St James’ Park crowd.

The French winger has also enjoyed stand-out performances against Liverpool and Manchester United in the Premier League this season.

However, this isn’t the first time we’ve heard of his potential departure.

Saint-Maximin’s future was the subject of mounting speculation in the January window, with Italian side AC Milan having been heavily linked.
