NEWCASTLE have reportedly launched a third bid for Flamengo wonderkid Matheus Franca.
But the Magpies are still short of the Brazilian side’s asking price for their top asset.
Reports in Franca’s homeland claim Newcastle saw their first £11.5m bid rejected for the attacking midfielder last week.
And a second offer worth an initial £12m was also turned down by Flamengo.
But Eddie Howe is determined to land 19-year-old Franca this month.
A fresh £14m bid has now been submitted as the Toon boss looks to seal a deal.

However, Flamengo have maintained from the start they want at least £17.5m for Franca PLUS 50 per cent of his next transfer fee.
They are about to sell another top player in Joao Gomes for £16m, and believe Franca is worth “a lot more” due to his age and profile.
As well as Franca, Newcastle would also like to secure a deal for Everton’s Anthony Gordon ahead of Chelsea.
A bid worth up to £40m has been offered, but the Toffees are hoping for closer to £60m.

Toon also fancy Man Utd midfielder Scott McTominay.
However, the ace is not for sale until the summer.
And there could be more outgoings at St James’ Park too, with Allan Saint-Maximin a loan target for AC Milan.
But he has just returned from injury and remains a vital player in Howe’s eyes.
Newcastle keeper Karl Darlow has joined Hull on a six-month loan.
