Second half goals from Joe Willock and Callum Wilson condemned United to their latest disappointment in the Premier League.

It was a miserable afternoon all-round for United, with many fans questioning Erik ten Hag’s decision to leave out Fred.

And tensions threatened to boil over as Lisandro Martinez was spotted punching the dug-out after he was substituted off.

Ten Hag was also involved in a touchline spat with his counterpart Eddie Howe and the Toon coaching staff late on as he complained about Newcastle’s time-wasting.

And cheeky Murphy could not resist poking fun at those complaints following the full-time whistle.

The club’s Twitter account shared footage of the Newcastle players leaving the pitch following the game.

And winger Murphy, 28, soon spotted the camera and jokingly started pointing at an imaginary watch on his wrist as he mocked the United moans.

After seeing the clip, one delighted Twitter user demanded: “Give him the keys to the city.”
