NEWCASTLE are trying to hijack Tottenham’s bid to sign Roma midfielder Nicolo Zaniolo, according to reports.
The Italy international, 23, has been heavily linked with Antonio Conte’s side in the January transfer window.
Spurs were understood to be interested in a loan move with the option to buy.
Borussia Dortmund and West Ham have also reportedly been monitoring his situation.
However, according to journalist Tancredi Palmeri, Newcastle have now emerged as a potential destination for Zaniolo after offering Roma £31million for the Serie A side’s No22.
The opening bid was rejected by the Italian outfit, but Eddie Howe’s men could yet return with a second offer.
