MANCHESTER UNITED rubbed salt in the wounds of Charlton manager Dean Holden after they sent him an email offering League cup semi-final tickets just hours after knocking his side out of the tournament.
The League one side saw their Carabao cup run cut short by Man United on Tuesday when they lost 3-0 in the quarter-finals of the competition.
Holden’s side had knocked out Premier League high-flyers Brighton in the previous round on penalties, but were unable to repeat their heroics at Old Trafford.
Marcus Rashford bagged a late brace to ensure the Red Devil’s progressed to the next round of the competition, but it was the next day that things got even worse for Holden.
The Charlton boss is known to be a Manchester United season ticket holder and he received an email from the club detailing how he could purchase a ticket to United’s semi-final after they had knocked his side out.
The email was shared on Twitter showing quite how awkward it will have been for Holden to read after seeing his side crash out.

Charlton find themselves 12th in League One and will now have full focus on their league campaign as they hope for an outside chance at making the play-offs.
Manchester United will face off against Nottingham Forest in the next round who beat Wolves on penalties to secure their place in the semi-finals.
Erik ten Hag’s side will have to get straight back to business as they have the highly anticipated Manchester Derby against rivals Manchester City to tend with on Saturday.
United have changed their fortunes from the start of the season and are now just four points off City and sitting inside the top four.
