The Red Devils opened the scoring after 21 minutes when a stunning ball from Mason Mount found Facundo Pellistri down the right and the winger passed to Diogo Dalot.

Dalot delivered a low cross that set Alejandro Garnacho up to fire home.

United doubled their lead six minutes later when Mount delivered a pinpoint cross from a corner down the left and found Casemiro, who beat Johnstone with a powerful header.

The Brazil international provided the third goal just ten minutes into the second half as his marvellous ball set up Anthony Martial, who scored with a brilliant finish.

A very impressive full debut for Sofyan Amrabat who won all of his duels down the left in the first half and bossed the midfield in the second.

His strong partnership with Casemiro hinted that he can turn United’s fortunes around now that he’s fit.

Harry Maguire – 6

A composed performance at the back as the under-pressure star formed a strong partnership with Raphael Varane.

Got the better of Crystal Palace’s attack who left him relatively untroubled.

Another youngster who leaves plenty of promise for the future.

Hannibal Mejbri put together some good runs and linked up well with the likes of Casemiro, Mount and Amrabat in midfield.

Victor Lindelof – 6

Came on for the impressive Mount and continued to inspire confidence at the back. A quiet evening for the centre-back.
