Man Utd ratings: Marcel Sabitzer impresses in first start but Wout Weghorst anonymous as United much better without him

MANCHESTER UNITED rallied from two goals down to grab a point against Leeds.

In their first game after the sacking of Jesse Marsch, Leeds needed less than a minute to hit the opening goal as Wilfried Gnonto scored.

Things would get even better for the Yorkshire club early in the second-half as an own goal by Raphael Varane doubled Leeds’ advantage.

But Man United roared back through Marcus Rashford and Jadon Sancho, his first goal since his Old Trafford exile ended.

The draw means the Red Devils’ 13-game home winning run in all competitions has come to an end.

SunSport’s Martin Blackburn explores who turned up and who buckled under Leeds’ pressure in a topsy-turvy night in Manchester.

David de Gea – 6

Given no chance by Gnonto’s early strike and wrong-footed by Varane for the second.

Made a decent first half save to keep out Struijk’s header but also beaten all ends up by Aaronson’s free-kick which hit the post

Diogo Dalot – 7

Stepped in for first league start since the World Cup due to Aaron Wan-Bissaka’s injury.

Saw a sweet strike blocked in first half stoppage time. Floated a super cross over for Rashford’s header which pulled United back in the game.

Raphael Varane – 6

Diverted Crysencio Summerville’s cross beyond de Gea for the visitors second goal but came close to scoring at the right end too on a couple of occasions.

Brilliant save by Meslier kept out his header and denied him a winner late on.

Lisandro Martinez – 6

Lucky to go unpunished for a nasty tackle on Bamford. Stood off Gnonto as Leeds took the lead in the first minute.

Found it tough going at times with little protection from the midfield but stuck at it.

Luke Shaw – 6

Fantastic work down the left as he linked up superbly with Sancho for the equaliser.

Had some nice link ups with Garnacho before he was subbed and did his bit defensively despite some rapid counter attacks.

Fred – 5

Injuries to Christian Eriksen and Scott McTominay – and Casemiro’s suspension – mean he is back to starting. Yet it was more like the old Fred and as United fans know he is no Casemiro as a shield for the defence.

Could have grabbed a late winner but shot lacked the power to beat Meslier.

Marcel Sabitzer – 7

Debut for the Austrian and could have marked it with a goal but fluffed an early volley and saw curling shot saved brilliantly by Meslier.

Some promising signs that the loan man from Bayern Munich can be an important addition.

Marcus Rashford – 6

Thunderous shot into the head of Pascal Struijk ended his evening. Pulled a second-half shot wide but then stepped up when it mattered to head United back into the game – meaning he has now scored in six consecutive home games.

Bruno Fernandes – 6

Robbed by Struijk in the first minute in the build up to the goal and almost presented Summerville with another goal later on.

Improved after the break and whistled a shot over late on which could have won it.

Alejandro Garnacho – 6

Early shot wide and saw a first half effort cleared off the line by Wober. The young Argentine tried to make things happen but gave the ball away for the second.

Did not look impressed when he was replaced by Facundo Pellistri on the hour.

Wout Weghorst – 4

Only had 10 touches in the first half and the second period started little better – no surprise when he was hooked on the hour for Jadon Sancho. The Dutch forward has yet to settle since making the surprise move to Old Trafford.

Played his part in the goal that pulled United back into it with a lay off for Dalot.
