According to the Manchester Evening News, the Red Devils are interested in New England Revolution ace Petrovic.

However, the Manchester giants have yet to make contact with the 23-year-old’s camp.

And the Serbia international is not being considered as Erik ten Hag’s next No1.

Ten Hag, though, will need to add an understudy after Jack Butland’s loan ended and he joined Rangers.

The Dutch tactician is also likely to lose Tom Heaton, who will look for more regular minutes, and Dean Henderson with Nottingham Forest determined to turn his loan into a permanent deal.

Petrovic has stood out in the US ever since his arrival last year and has attracted interest from other Premier League clubs as well.

The Serb has a contract until 2025, with a one-year option to extend, and New England Revolution would seek a high fee.

The youngster arrived from Serbian outfit Cukaricki, with whom he played in the Europa Conference League.

Petrovic joined the American outfit as a replacement for current Arsenal ace Matt Turner.

He is now considered as one of the best goalkeepers in the MLS as he kept seven clean sheets in 21 appearances last season and also saved four penalties.

That led to the MLS Save of the Year award, while he also finished as runner-up for the MLS Goalkeeper of the Year gong behind Philadelphia Union’s Andre Blake.

This season Petrovic has registered six clean sheets in 17 matches across all competitions.
