Guirassy is in fine form this season, scoring 16 goals in 11 Bundesliga appearances, with only Harry Kane scoring more.

His goalscoring record has caught the eye of several Premier League clubs, including United.

However, Erik ten Hag’s side now face competition from Newcastle ahead of the January transfer window.

According to Bild, the Magpies are the latest club to enter the race to sign the 27-year-old.

The report adds that Newcastle could trigger his £14.6million release clause once the window re-opens.

West Ham, Brentford, Fulham, Crystal Palace and Bournemouth are all also rumoured to be eyeing a move for Guirassy.

He has refused to rule out staying at Stuttgart, though, despite his form and low release clause attracting interest.

The Guinea international explained: “I can’t hide these things – everyone knows that the Premier League is one of the most competitive leagues in the world.

“But right now I’m not closing any doors. There are some very big teams in Europe and it’s not just about the Premier League.

“We have such a good team in Stuttgart and anything is possible in football. If we continue to be as humble as we have been, then we have a good chance.”

Guirassy is seen as a potential solution to United’s goalscoring issues.

Following his goal against Werder Bremen on Saturday, he has scored the same number of league goals as United, in three fewer matches.
