MANCHESTER UNITED fans were full of praise for Lisandro Martinez after he wiped out Arsenal star Bukayo Saka.
The Red Devils beat Arsenal 2-0 in the Premier League Summer Series fixture in New Jersey, US, thanks to goals from Jadon Sancho and Bruno Fernandes.
And one of the biggest talking points from the match was Martinez’s performance as he looked to rough up the Gunners.
Bukayo Saka received some harsh treatment from the defender, who was known as the Butcher during his time at Ajax.
On one occasion Martinez flew into a tackle on the winger despite having little chance of winning the ball, for which he received a yellow card.
The challenge sparked an angry reaction from Arsenal captain Martin Odegaard, who confronted Martinez.

The Argentine was more than happy to engage in a face-off with the midfielder and fans loved his attitude.
One wrote: “He’s back! The Butcher is ready for blood!”
Another added: “They call Martinez the butcher for a reason!”
A third said: “Martinez butcher even on friendly 🔥”

And another commented: “Might just be the best defender in the Premier League.”
Martinez upheld his reputation for aggressive, no-nonsense defending in his debut season at United last term.
He sparked fury in a match against Leeds in February after scraping his studs down Patrick Bamford’s face, yet avoided a red card.
And it is unlikely Martinez will change his style after admitting he puts everything into each tackle he makes.
Asked about his Butcher nickname, the defender responded: “I don’t even remember who gave me the nickname at Ajax or why. It must be because of the aggressive way I play my game.
“The truth is that I do go to each challenge like it is going to be my last one, so in one way it does suit me.
“Having said that, I’ve greatly improved the way I read the game and make decisions.”
