Man Utd fans fume ‘Chelsea have rinsed us’ as they spot Mount ‘smiling and laughing’ on pitch after pitiful Spurs loss

MANCHESTER UNITED fans fumed at Mason Mount after their side’s 2-0 defeat at Tottenham.

Mount, 24, made his second consecutive start for United since making his £60million switch from Chelsea this summer, and was subbed for the second game in a row too.

The England midfielder failed to make an impact on the game and was replaced by Facundo Pellistri in the 85th minute.

After the match, Mount was spotted talking to England team-mate James Maddison on the pitch.

The Spurs star had his arm draped around Mount and could be seen laughing.

Mount smiled in the moment, before walking off looking forlorn.

Fans online were unhappy with the United new-boy’s brief smile following his side’s 2-0 defeat.

One wrote: “Why is he smiling after unironically dropping two of the worst midfield performances i’ve seen in recent times.”

Another social media user responded: “Chelsea have absolutely rinsed us.”

A third fan tweeted: “Seeing Antony swapping shirts and Mason Mount giggling with Maddison would NEVER have happened under Alex Ferguson!!”

Others commented saying that Maddison would have been a better signing for United, having joined Spurs from Leicester for £40m.

One claimed: “James Maddison showed Mason Mount how to hoop today.”

A second reckoned: “Getting Mason Mount for £55m when James Maddison was available for £40m shows how clueless Erik Ten Haag is/was.”

While a third fumed: “Ten Hag saw Maddison in the market and decided to go for Mount.”

And another added: “Instead of Mason Mount, we could have had James Maddison… For less money!”
