Man Utd fans convinced Erik ten Hag’s ‘lost the plot’ after claiming result against ‘rubbish’ Spurs was ‘good draw’

MANCHESTER UNITED supporters have accused boss Erik ten Hag of “losing the plot” after claiming it was a “good draw” at Tottenham.

The Red Devils were two up in North London thanks to goals from Jadon Sancho and Marcus Rashford at half time.

But Spurs fought back to earn a point against United thanks to strikes from Pedro Porro and Heung-min Son.

Old Trafford chief Ten Hag has plenty of credit in the bank after ending the club’s trophy-drought in February by lifting the Carabao Cup and has also guided them to the FA Cup Final where they will meet neighbours City on June 3.

However, he has suffered some humiliating results along the way during his first term in charge, such as the 7-0 thrashing at Liverpool.

And he has come under criticism from some quarters of the Stretford End by stating last night’s result “was a good draw”.

Ten Hag said: “Some thought 90 per cent was enough. I know they are not robots and fatigue is an issue but you have to give it everything on every occasion. That is the basis.

“We took a bit of the gas off and that was our problem. I think it’s been that for a few games where we are sharp and coming ahead and [haven’t] kept it going.

“We are disappointed – we were 2-0 up. We had the chances to make it 3-1 which we didn’t take.

“We were not good over the 90 minutes, we did not play brilliant. After half-time, being up 2-0, we had to score another goal.

“We have to manage the game and keep the ball. Not give the ball away so easily, the goal was quite obvious.

“We have to block the crosses, we have to be proactive and come out and we didn’t squeeze out. It was so easy for them, easy for them to score a goal.

“We need energy and we have to be ready for Sunday (against Aston Villa). But in the end, good draw.”

Supporters quickly took to Twitter after hearing that final comment with one saying: “Ten Hag just said 2-2 is a good draw has he lost the plot.”

Another wrote: “Bottling a 2 goal lead against a rubbish Spurs and calling it a good draw. Last few interviews of Ten Hag give me Ole vibes.”

A fellow fan said: “Who brought on the players .. who picks the teams .. Ole took the blame all the time because at the end of the day the manager has the responsibility.. meanwhile Ten Hag is saying this was a good draw.”

While another commented: “‘A good draw’ when we were 2-0 up Ten Hag I like you bro but what are you talking about???”
