Pep Guardiola would have been frustrated to see his side drop points against Liverpool last weekend at the Etihad.

But having watched them redeem themselves by coming from two down to win the five-goal thriller against RB Leipzig in the Champions league on Tuesday, the Cityzens come into it full of confidence.

And their supporters will certainly be expecting three points against a Spurs side that have lost their last THREE matches.

However, Postecoglou’s men have been severely hampered by a number of absences over recent weeks.

And they could potentially end the weekend level on points with City if they can upset the odds on Sunday.

But once again they will have to try and end their miserable run without several of their stars.

Postecoglou was already without nine first-team players going into last weekend.

Now Rodrigo Bentancur is the latest player to be sidelined after tearing his ankle ligament in last week’s loss to Aston Villa.

James Maddison, Richarlison and Micky van de Ven are among those that are also set to be absent for the long-term.

However, Postecoglou could have a number of key men back to help bolster the ranks.

Latest form

City have looked vulnerable domestically over recent weeks defensively after they had battered Bournemouth 6-1.

They were held by Chelsea in a thrilling 4-4 draw at Stamford Bridge before Liverpool left the Etihad with a share of the spoils last week – meaning they have only taken five points from a possible nine.

Meanwhile, Spurs’ stunning unbeaten start to the campaign came to a screeching halt last month in the 4-1 home defeat to Chelsea where they finished with nine men.

With injuries and suspensions scuppering Postecoglou’s plans since, they are still yet to recover.

They blew a one goal lead at Wolves to lose 2-1 in their next game before they did the exact same thing at home to Villa last Sunday.

What is the team news?

Pep Guardiola would have been delighted to escape midweek’s Champions League encounter without any fresh injury concerns.

But Mateo Kovacic (muscular), Kevin de Bruyne (hamstring) and Matheus Nunes (muscular) remain sidelined.

Elsewhere, Ange Postecogolu has a lengthy list of players who are set to miss this huge match.

Rodrigo Bentancur (ankle), Ryan Sessegnon (hamstring), Richarlison (groin), Manor Solomon (meniscus), James Maddison (ankle), Ivan Perisic (cruciate ligament), Micky Van de Ven (thigh), Hugo Lloris (groin) and Alfie Whiterman (ankle) are all out.

Cristian Romero continues to serve a suspension after his straight red card against Chelsea.

But Tottenham are hoping that Pape Sarr can return from a knock last weekend.

Who will be the star men?

With Erling Haaland leading the line, City are capable of beating anybody on the planet.

The Norwegian star began their comeback against Leipzig, opened the scoring against Liverpool and grabbed two against Chelsea to take his tally to 19 for the campaign.

Meanwhile, Spurs will be relying on their skipper Son Heung-min to fire them to victory.

He has flourished in the role of replacing Harry Kane at No.9 and has eight goals this term.

SunSport prediction

Unfortunately we can’t see Tottenham returning to winning ways at the Etihad.

And we think it will be City celebrating a 3-1 victory.
