After a nine year spell of going head to head in La Liga, Ronaldo finally left Real Madrid to swap Spain for Italy in a move to Juventus in 2018.

And it would appear that Messi was keen to find out just how hard it was for the Portuguese superstar to find the back of the net in his new surroundings.

Boateng, who played with Messi at Barcelona, told FIVE’s Youtube Channel that the World Cup winner had quizzed him about how difficult Serie A was.

The former AC Milan man said: “He [Messi] is the captain but doesn’t speak.

“We spoke one time in the shower because he asked if it’s difficult to score in Italy because Ronaldo was there at that time, and he showed the rivalry between them.

“I told him that it was more difficult that Ronaldo was there, and he scored every game for three years. People forget too easily what he’s done there.”

Ronaldo netted 101 goals in 134 appearances for The Old Lady and clearly didn’t find it too hard before he returned to Manchester United in 2021.

Messi on the other hand hasn’t struggled for goals either and is now excelling in the US with Inter Miami where he has 11 goals in 12 appearances across all competitions.
