Jamie Carragher hits out at Pep Guardiola for treatment of Phil Foden and claims he fears for his England future

JAMIE CARRAGHER has voiced his concerns over Phil Foden’s future at Manchester City.

Foden was viewed as England‘s next big star when he burst on the scene in 2017.

But he struggled for minutes in City’s Treble-winning campaign with Jack Grealish often preferred.

“Pep played Alvarez behind Haaland – that’s a position where Foden could play, but he still doesn’t play him.”

On paper Foden has won almost everything – five Premier League titles, a Champions League, FA Cups and League Cups.

But he has been competing with the likes of Kevin De Bruyne, Bernardo Silva and Gundogan for a place in City’s starting eleven.

Last season he contributed 11 goals and five assists to City’s iconic Treble win – the first team to do it since Manchester United in 1999.
