James Rodriguez could be set for shock Premier League free transfer with three clubs monitoring World Cup legend

JAMES RODRIGUEZ has been tipped for a shock Premier League return with three clubs reported to be tracking him.

He had his contract ripped up at Olympiacos in April after just 23 games for the Greek club.

The 31-year-old is now a free agent and Prem clubs are believed to be leading the race to land him.

Columbian outlet El Futbolero report that Crystal Palace, Bournemouth and Brighton are trying to work out whether a deal would be possible.

Journalist Christian Martin said: “We understand that he (James) prioritizes continuing in European football. Could it be England?

“We understand that yes, that there is a possibility that clubs like Crystal Palace, Bournemouth or even Brighton itself, which is not used to making this type of incorporation, at least find out the conditions in which the Colombian could arrive.”

Rodriguez has struggled to get his career going again after leaving Everton in 2021.

The ex-Real Madrid star only had one season at Goodison Park as he took his part in an exciting Everton team led by Carlo Ancelotti.

The Toffees were 2nd on Boxing Day but struggled for form in the second half of the campaign and finished 10th before Ancelotti left for Real Madrid.

Rodriguez departed for Qatar club Al-Rayyan would make only 13 appearances over two seasons before heading to Olympiacos.

If none of the Premier League clubs pounce, other sides in Europe could make a move.

Turkish giants Galatasaray and Besiktas have already been linked with a move for the South American forward.
